My name is Natalia Lyes, and I am the founder of Pasitos Spanish for your Children. I am a native Spanish speaker, originally from Ecuador, but I’ve been living in the UK for the past 21 years.
I have lots of experience working with children of all ages. I have two young children of my own and we live in a bilingual household.
I have experienced first hand how important it is to be able to speak a second language this is why I am passionate about languages and I would like to share my enthusiasm with others.
I have a degree in History and Journalism from UWE University and a diploma in Teaching Spanish to children and young adults from the University of Barcelona. I am also a Primary Teacher Assistant.
I am currently the Spanish teacher at Shield Road Primary School and I have been asked to create an after school Spanish club at Horfield Primary, Shield Road and Colston's Primary school.
I am also the Spanish teacher at Snapdragons nursery in Horfiell and I have founded a Spanish Club for various ages on Saturday mornings.
I worked as a radio producer and presenter in the only Spanish language radio show in Bristol 'La Ventana Latina'. I have worked as a private nanny for many years with children from different ages. This has given me an insight into how their growing minds are like sponges, absorbing information about the world around them.
I am CRB checked to work with children.

Why Pasitos ?
The sessions are about exposing toddlers to the language through exploration & play. Babies and Toddlers will learn via a combination of sounds and activities delivered through action songs, rhymes, stories, role play and fun craft activities. Most importantly the toddlers will learn at their own pace. Parent/Carer participation is important. Not only do they become involved, babies and toddlers become more confident and less inhibited; it is a great 'social' occasion as well as an opportunity for Parents/Carers to explore & learn as well.
Sessions are delivered in a friendly, safe and caring environment. The programme concentrates on concepts the toddler is already familiar with in everyday life, covering 14 topics. Therefore he or she is not learning a new concept with a new language but a new language while doing or talking about something they know.
"My son enjoyed the one-to-one interaction and with every lesson came home singing songs and reciting spanish easily"
"I think Pasitos has been the best option for my daughter, she is feeling more confident speaking Spanish. They sing, play and learn at the same time"
"My daughter is in reception and goes to the Spanish class after school. The group size is small and I think it's a great way for the children to learn about a new language and culture in a very low pressure and fun way. Natalia is a fantastic and enthusiastic teacher and uses lots of different methods (including puppets!) to get the children involved"
”My daughter loves her spanish lessons and has a lovely relationship with her teacher. She enjoys the fun structure of the lesson and is always keen to teach the rest of the family what she has learnt. I highly recommend Pasitos Spanish For Your Children"
"My 4 year old daughter really enjoys her Spanish lessons, which she does as an after school club. She says they are fun and she really likes her teacher. I think having a chance to be in a smaller class than her usual reception one has helped to build her confidence as she participates more in Spanish than her normal classroom lessons"
